Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.

As the days until Christmas count down well into the single figures that can only mean one thing, the Vision Australia Carols by Candlelight are just around the corner!

On the show this week Sam is joined by performing artist, Vision Australia Award winner and music therapy graduate Lara Nakhle who is back at the Carols for the second time in a row.

We also hear from Vision Australia CEO Ron Hooton, who speaks about the importance of events like Carols to increase awareness of blindness and low vision in the general public and raise funds for the vital services Vision Australia provide for people of all ages.

Lara spoke about the fun she had performing at the Carols, an event she had been watching every year from a very young age.

“Last year performing at Carols by Candlelight was very exciting, it was honestly one of the highlights so far in my performing life. I got to meet so many famous people, it was honestly amazing and so much fun as well,” Lara said.

“Everyone was just so supportive backstage and cheering everyone on, it was a really nice atmosphere to be part of. I was a bit nervous when I first went out on stage, but then as soon as I sat at the piano and the song started I was OK,” she said.
