Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.

This week we continue the theme from last week with our final interview before the IBSA Games kick off on August 18 in Birmingham.

You heard from Tennis Australia’s Ben Dew last week, and this week Sam catches up with B3 tennis number one Phoebe David, as she gets ready to head to the UK to compete as part of an 11-person tennis contingent for Australia.

Phoebe is looking forward to heading over to Birmingham for a number of reasons, not only to compete for Australia in blind and low vision tennis, but also to hopefully motivate and encourage other women who are blind or have low vision to take up a sport and get fit and active.

“Part of me playing is I do like to try and get the word out there and tell women “come on, you can do it,” so I think heading over there and getting to play people from all around the world is going to be fantastic.

“We’re all in similar situations and I love hearing everyone’s stories, for me that is going to be so good just getting to meet so many people from everywhere and having something that we all share,” Phoebe said.
