When visiting our Kooyong office on Friday 13 November 2009, the Right Honourable David Blunkett MP, took the time to speak to the Australian blindness and low vision community.
He addressed clients, staff and other supporters of Vision Australia during a lunch hosted by Vision Australia staff.
Following this, he sat with Stephen Jolley in the Vision Australia Radio studios to record an extended conversation for Around Vision Australia.
Mr Blunkett gave his impressions of the blindness service system in Australia, reflected on growing up as a person who is blind in a deprived area of northern England and his eventual elevation to Home Secretary in Tony Blair's Labor Government . He also told of the challenges of carrying out the duties of public office when you are blind.
