Simple solutions enable our clients who are vision impaired to enjoy everyday pleasures, such as reading a magazine.
A person is said to have low vision when their eyesight is limited or impaired and cannot be corrected with conventional glasses or contact lenses.
Low vision can affect people of all ages and have an impact on many aspects of a person's life. It may cause problems with recognising faces, reading the newspaper, dialling the telephone or seeing road signs.

Vision Australia assists people to gain a better understanding of their vision impairment and make the most of their remaining sight.
Our specialist staff is available to assess each client's vision and provide services based on individual needs. Reports outlining recommendations can be provided to a third party with a client's consent. This is often useful for informing an employer, teacher or doctor about a person's needs.
Information about a wide range of equipment is offered to help individuals to realise their maximum vision potential. Advice about using magnification, lighting and contrast is given to assist people with activities like reading, writing and recreation.
A range of equipment such as magnifiers, pocket-size telescopes and adjustable lamps can be made available for demonstration through many of our offices.
Our specialist staff can refer people to other areas within our organisation to assist with information about accessing technology, employment, peer support activities or borrowing books from our national library service. Information can also be provided about the benefits, entitlements and community services available to people and their carers.
Our wide range of services is provided through regional and metropolitan locations in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria, mostly free-of-charge.
