Overview

Regional Client Committees (RCCs) provide an opportunity for clients and regional management to meet and discuss issues of a regional nature.

Vision Australia has divided its operations into five regions:

• Region 1 covers the western half of Victoria and up to Broken Hill in south western NSW.
• Region 2 covers the eastern half of Victoria and extends up to Albury on the NSW/Victorian border.
• Region 3 covers the south of NSW including Southern Sydney and the Australian Capital Territory. It extends west to Mildura on the NSW/Victorian border.
• Region 4 covers northern NSW including Northern Sydney.
• Region 5 covers Queensland.

The RCCs mirror these regions. Each Local Client Group (LCG) is invited to elect a member onto the RCC in their region. For those Local Client Groups who choose not to elect an RCC representative, a member from the relevant RCC is appointed to be a contact point for these LCGs.

RCCs may also invite additional members to ensure adequate geographic and demographic representation. In keeping with the democratic theme of the framework, issues that may not be resolved at a local level are brought to the RCC by the Client Representatives for further consideration. Regional management attend RCC meetings in order to engage directly with the RCCs on service provision and direction as part of the consultation process.

In September, each RCC elects or confirms a delegate to represent the region on the Client Representative Council (CRC). RCC members are elected to the CRC for a two year term. This ensures that the sitting representatives on the CRC are in touch with real issues affecting clients and provides a broad forum for the CRC representatives to consult with their peers.
