Myer Gift Wrap

Do you enjoy wrapping gifts? Could you remain calm if asked to wrap a basketball, tricycle or giant teddy bear? If so, we need your help!
Each year, over 1,000 new and regular Vision Australia volunteers from all walks of life generously donate more than 10,500 hours of their time to wrap Christmas gifts at Myer stores in ACT, NSW and Victoria.
In 2009, this event raised more than $75,000, with all proceeds going towards vital services provided to Australian children who are blind or have low vision.
These services include teaching children independence in daily living skills, orientation and mobility training sessions that enable young people who are vision impaired to learn to move safely and independently; and training in braille, adaptive technology or keyboarding.
The gift of independence and opportunity these funds provide is the best gift children who are blind or have low vision could receive.

Locations
Selected Myer stores across ACT, NSW and Victoria work in partnership with Vision Australia to encourage shoppers to make a donation and have their Myer-bought gifts expertly wrapped.
Requirements
Volunteers are asked to complete a training session and register for one or more gift wrapping shifts at the store/s of their choice.
There are two or three different shifts available each day during Gift Wrap, which takes place in the two weeks prior to Christmas.
All new volunteers undergo a criminal records check prior to the event. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or over.

Corporate Volunteers
Corporate volunteers are welcome. If you would like information on how to register several staff members to volunteer in teams, please call us on 1300 84 74 66 and ask to speak to Rachel Kennedy-Sama, Corporate Relations Officer.
How to register
Registrations for the 2010 event will commence in September.
Many Gift Wrap sessions book out early, so if you would like to receive advance notice to register for your sessions early, please fill in the Expression of interest to volunteer form and specify that you wish to volunteer for the 2010 Myer Christmas Gift Wrap.
