Volunteer Elaine Wilson recently received a prestigious award for her contribution to the community.

Long serving volunteer Ms Elaine Wilson was honoured with a Caroline Chisholm Award on behalf of the Chisholm Electorate in Victoria last month.

Federal Member for Chisholm in Victoria, Ms Anna Burke, presented Ms Wilson with the prestigious award, at an afternoon tea ceremony held in Chisholm.

Ms Wilson has worked tirelessly as a volunteer with Vision Australia for many years. She began volunteering with the Association for the Blind in the Low Vision Clinic before becoming a founding volunteer at the Mt Waverley Day Centre.

Ms Wilson has always been a dedicated volunteer on the team, bringing tea, biscuits, lunches, friendship and smiles to the faces of many. She enjoys taking members for a "Walk and Talk" around the neighbourhood, and shines in her support role during Day Centre group excursions.

The Caroline Chisholm Award is a wonderful way to recognise the outstanding work of volunteers in the local community.

Ms Wilson is one of our unsung heroes, and we are thrilled that her contribution to people who are blind or vision impaired has been publicly acknowledged.
